He must have never seen such a funny little owl practicing his terrifying gaze

The images from Sussex show a determined little owl flying straight towards the camera to pounce on the photographer, while others show him trying his scariest look to comical effect. Little owls are only twenty centimeters tall, making them the smallest owl species in the UK. These images were taken by construction manager and hobby photographer Mark Richey in South East England. „I waited for hours in a photographer’s hideout for the little owls to show themselves,” said Mark. „All of a sudden they appeared in front of me in the blink of an eye. I love photographing owls, and I especially love the expressions on the faces of little owls. They have a real personality. Every time I see little owls , I can’t believe how tiny they are. You can’t see it in the photos, but they really are very small. Photographing wildlife always creates an immediate rush, especially if you’ve been waiting a long time to see them – sometimes hours or more . I always feel a sense of satisfaction mixed with relief when I get the images I was hoping for.”
